Hematuria Evaluation and Diagnosis in Houston, TX
BLOOD IN URINE: SYMPTOMS, CAUSES, & WHEN TO SEE A DOCTOR

WHAT DOES BLOOD IN YOUR URINE MEAN?
Seeing blood in your urine can be scary when you see it. Hematuria has many causes, so the time to seek medical attention is the first time it happens. Don’t ignore even a small amount of blood. It could be something quite minor—or not.
Whether it’s gross hematuria with visible blood, or microscopic hematuria, only hematuria evaluation by an experienced urology specialist can discover the issue and the ways to address it. At LifeSculpt™ by ChristiMD, this is part of our comprehensive urology care services in Houston.

How Hematuria (Blood in Urine) Evaluation Works
First, contact LifeSculpt™ by ChristiMD️ for an initial consultation.
We’ll talk with you openly and honestly, asking and answering any and all questions. For the confirmed presence of hematuria, we’ll schedule a full examination. You may also be recommended to us by your primary care doctor if microscopic hematuria is discovered.
Next Step
Next, an abdominal x-ray of the kidneys, ureters and bladder (KUB) is performed, as well as a kidney ultrasound or CT scan. The final part of the evaluation is a scope of the bladder, called a cystoscopy.
If a urinary tract infection causes the Hematuria, antibiotics may be prescribed. If Dr. Christi finds a kidney stone, laser therapy or shock wave therapy may be recommended. If the issue requires surgery, you options will be discussed in full.
